RAKE Collective stands in unconditional solidarity with the liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea. We demand an immediate ceasefire, an end to the siege on Gaza, the right of return and self-determination for Palestine, the release of all Palestinian prisoners, and the total dismantlement of the occupying settler colonial project.
Since our formation in 2019 we have been loud and active in our solidarity with Palestine; some of our members have been organising within Palestinian-led movements since long before that. Our position is well-informed, well-considered and unwavering.
Our work as RAKE is inherently political and we believe it would be disingenuous to our practice if we did not use our platform to speak up as the world bears witness to the dehumanisation, dispossession and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. Beyond this, as human beings, we simply refuse to carry on as normal while watching a genocide facilitated by our governments unfold in real-time.
While art can be a powerful way to support the struggle, the current escalation of the ongoing genocide is a matter of utmost urgency, and now is not the time for self-promotion or individualistic ego projects. We consider it our duty to participate in collective direct action, public disruption, and both online and offline efforts to demand justice for Palestine.
Palestine will be free within our lifetime, and we unapologetically support all forms of Palestinian resistance against illegal occupation and colonial apartheid.
To our Palestinian siblings, you inspire humanity, your resistance is heroic.
بالروح بالدم نفديك يا اقصى
To those of you who are using your skills and time to speak up, organise & stand against this, we salute you and our door is always open should you need help/ support with actions, projects or plans.
To the artists, institutions, writers and academics in the field with platforms and influence - especially those of you who have made your names by claiming to hold power to account and engage with social/ political/ ecological/ decolonial matters - but have chosen to stay silent throughout: you are complicit, we condemn your wilful ignorance and blatant lack of integrity.
We have curated a non-exhaustive list of resources and action points (being updated intermittently) from a UK perspective, although the majority of these links are relevant worldwide.
